What's 9 + 10?

Welcome to my first official entry into Dino's Diary. Unlike the charlatanic entries prior to the post, this is the real Dinos. How can I tell you might ask yourself? Well, if you know me, you'll realize I don't generally sound like an AI simulation of our weekend's events. If you don't know me, I hope this project that I was unknowingly assigned helps us get to know each other a little better.

William Faulkner once said, "Fiction is often the best fact." This diary of hyperbole and satire will hopefully shine a light on who we are at Boyz From The South. With limited writing experience, I called upon some creative liberty like one of my favorite journalists and authors, Hunter S. Thompson, in order to embark on this journey. Let's dive in.

The Devils traveled to Manhattan, Kansas, this past weekend. If you've never been to Manhattan, it is most aptly described as a city of limestone buildings that rises out of the golden-hued wheat fields of the Sunflower State. The limestone buildings weren't the only things rising... The Devils rose into the national rankings after a 24-14 victory over Kansas State.

What's 9 + 10? Well, that's 21, of course, and that's where the Devils stand with only two weeks remaining in the regular season. They've won three in a row and have propelled themselves past that team from the cornfields of Ames, Iowa, not only in the Big 12 standings, but the national rankings as well. Take that, IOWA. This sets them up for a (monogamous) date with BYU in a de facto Big 12 semifinal back in Tempe.

Sam and I celebrated in typical fashion by sipping on espresso martinis at our new favorite restaurant and hitting the town. A late night of celebrating quickly turned into crippling existential dread the next morning as the Bears dropped yet another game to the Green Bay Packers. As the great philosopher Barstool Big Cat said, "Sports suck. Waste of time. Nothing matters. We're all going to die anyway."

Although I'd generally concur with such an axiom, we have a hell of a weekend ahead of us to live for in Tempe. Go Devils.
